Position Summary & Responsibilities:
This position will remain posted until filled. Location: KDA Laboratory located in Manhattan, Kansas.

Maintain the laboratory quality management system to meet ISO 17025 standards. Implement document control, review and maintain records. Perform internal audits for adherence to ISO 17025 plus AOAC and AAFCO quality guidelines. Lead or participate in risk management, corrective and preventative actions, internal audits, and management reviews. Oversee proficiency testing activities. Receive and review customer and personnel feedback. Serve as point of contact with accrediting body and prepare materials for all assessments. Foster positive work environment, a culture of commitment to continuous improvement, excellent customer service and encourage teammates to do the same.

Fulfill ISO 17025 training when assigned. Provide quality management training. Anticipate and identify future quality assurance or lab operational needs. Monitor technical competency of personnel. Attend professional development conferences and leadership training course when assigned.

Ensure the Industrial Hemp lab section effectively functions to serve agency needs while meeting expected turnaround time. Effectively communicate with the lab team, regulatory program, and other stakeholders. Ensure that personnel, equipment, workflow and housekeeping needs are met.

Hold personnel accountable to work standards, performance expectations, and safety standards. Assign tasks and evaluate work of others. Provide input to executive management on staffing/recruitment or operational needs and strategic planning.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, biology, microbiology, life sciences, agricultural sciences, or related field is required.

Training in laboratory quality assurance, particularly ISO 17025, is strongly preferred.

Training and/or experience with internal audits is strongly preferred.

Training and/or experience with document control is strongly preferred.

Good public speaking, written and verbal communication skills.

Five or more years of laboratory experience.

Valid Driver’s License.
